..A new witch has just dropped a house on the Wicked Witch of the East

Some of those banner ads at the top of the page just scare me - if I wanted to see monsters, toilet breaks and what the hell is that? Manga? I'd go to Forbidden Planet.

I know I go on (and on), but I saw a story in the papers yesterday where British forces have said they're going to drop concrete bombs on Iraqi targets. These are, unsurprisingly, bombs filled with concrete. Initially, I thought that these could be one of those non-lethal weapons that the US has consistently trumpeted and yet consistently failed to use during the war - you know - they drop it before it sets and leave an Iraqi-shaped statue with only the eyes moving.

It's not even that clever, as it turns out. Basically, you drop a bomb-like lump of concrete from a plane, it demolishes the target and you don't get the irritating collateral damage. All that begs the question of why the hell they didn't use it earlier?

Coming next - B52's carpet-bomb Iraqis with real carpets.

While I'm speaking about inconsequential war-related rubbish, the coolest war reporter I've ever seen has to be Marie Colvin. I know it's a stupid thing to say - but a war reporter with an eye-patch seems more, I don't know, hardcore.

Wow, this really is a modern war.
