Judge a book by its cover.
Via tinka: an article on Penguin Book covers from the Guardian. Book covers have always been the thing that's attracted me to new authors. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but mostly it does: 253? great covers, fabulously inventive book; Iain Banks? Every cover was perfect (up until the deeply insipid pastels of the new editions) and then, on the downside - The Speed Queen - lovely cover, crappy Natural Born Killers knock-off. But Penguins? Ooh, they're so good... Needless to say, this is still my favourite. So, any covers that float yout boat. Or, any that promised much but delivered little? Dave xx
