Now Scotland and Turkey Have Trophies.
This sounds more fun than the world cup just round the corner, no?
As it turns out, the FIFA World Cup isn't the only international football tournament being hosted this year by Germany. On a cloudy, cold day in Hamburg, the final match of the FIFI Wild Cup saw the crowd favorites from Zanzibar, made up of two islands off the coast of Tanzania, fall to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus - recognized as an independent nation by nobody except Turkey. The FIFI Wild Cup. On the other side of the coin, this documentary was the scariest thing I've seen on TV in a long, long time - hearing a young, eloquent, (home) educated man describing George Bush as representing "the forces of light" made me deeply uncomfortable. Honestly, religion is not a bad thing in my opinion, but people with bad ideas who use their faith as an unshakeable foundation for their bigotries scare the shit out of me. And they're being groomed as the next generation's Republican leaders. These days it's not so much Orwell, more like Atwood that's being proved right. Dave xx
