Volcanic Rock Café.
Well bugger me if I didn't get my lazy arse out of bed at a reasonable hour and bus across to Edinburgh to go cow spotting.
Now, that was fairly enjoyable, but Edinburgh always leaves me feeling a little wrong. There's loads of good stuff to see, lovely architecture, good shops and all but it annoys me. I'll tell you why: imagine, if you will, going to see an RSC performance of Hamlet, but having to swerve past the Hard Rock Café Stratford; Ye Olde Genuine Danish Armour Shoppe and a "Find out which Shakespearean character you're related to" stall to get there. Look, Glasgow (bless it) is predominantly a Victorian industrial city. Change fits its character - buildings spring up and juxtapose with each other to create a patchwork whole of sorts. Edinburgh, on the other hand, clings on to its ideal self (a dignified, refined capital and seat of learning) whilst allowing all manner of tourist trap junk to clog its closes and alleyways. Anyway, yes, the cows were fun, even if I found barely a third of them. By the way, Ottodixless?, I must have just missed you if that picture you posted was from today. A meme of sorts, just to remind me it's been 4 years since I trekked across the States... still 34 to go:
